The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) called on the Wall government today to make SaskPower release details surrounding the mothballed $143 million head office refurbishment project.
The CTF filed numerous FOI requests for further information about the cancelled renovations. SaskPower indicated to the CTF that there is no documentation on the date SaskPower’s head office refurbishment was put on hold. The crown corporation also refused to release details on things like the rooftop patio it had planned on constructing and the “living walls” it hoped to create around the elevator area in the building.
“We’re glad we helped put the massive project on hold,” said CTF Prairie Director Colin Craig. “But the crown corporation should be up front with the public about what it was planning on doing. People should be able to investigate and determine what they feel is appropriate and what isn’t.”
“People need to remember that SaskPower has been raising rates substantially,” added Craig.
